JAWS 7.0 System Requirements

To use JAWS 7.0 you will need:

Component Requirement
Computer and processor Personal computer with a processor capable of handling the requirements of the operating system in addition to any other programs you want to use with JAWS.
Memory

Enough memory to run the operating system and any programs you want to use with JAWS. Additional memory will improve system performance while JAWS is running.

Hard disk JAWS requires less than 200 MB of hard disk space for program and settings files. Additional space is required for the JAWS training materials, operating system other programs and the Windows swap file.
Display

A display adapter capable of at least 800x600 screen resolution with 16 bit color. 1024x768 or higher-resolution monitor is recommended.

Operating system

JAWS Standard: MS Windows® 98/Me/XP Home

JAWS Professional: MS Windows® 2000/XP Professional

Sound Card

If you intend to use the Eloquence for JAWS software synthesizer, a sound card compatible with the version of Windows you are running is required.
Other

If you choose not to use the Eloquence for JAWS software synthesizer, you must have a JAWS compatible software or hardware speech synthesizer or a refreshable Braille display.

NOTE: Without a sound card, you will not have a talking installation.
